The Junior Horsemanship Academy is a new program designed for the very young horse lover. This program is taught on the Preschool – Kindergarten level, as well as the Kindergarten – Second Grade level. These programs will teach more than just riding. Children will be taught about breeds, colors, counting, grooming and general horse knowledge. The programs are structured to build patience, confidence, good sportsmanship, and most importantly; have fun! These programs allow for the opportunity to show in the leadline division at High Ridge Farm Fun Shows, as well as at local English and Western shows. Our staff is child and family friendly, as well as certified in both First Aid and CPR.
3 – 5 Year Old Program:
One hour long sessions offered in mornings, afternoons and evenings all year round. Children will learn how to groom ponies, sit correctly in a saddle, and hold reins, prior to physically riding. Children will then apply these learned skills to getting a pony ready and learning to ride. Children will also participate in games, coloring and other fun activities that provide more learning opportunities. This program is setup in a small group classroom setting where children can meet new friends while learning about these magnificent animals. Each session includes a lesson in riding.
